Italy
Italy runs one of the larger national VAT databases and is generally reliable. Its quirk is that it tends to answer slowly rather than fail outright, more so than most member states. So if you are seeing multi-second latencies here, that is normal behaviour and not an incident — set your timeout to accommodate it rather than treating a slow answer as a failure.
